Dance Music Producer Commits Career Suicide With Homophobic Rant

If you’re an electronic dance music DJ, it’s safe to assume you’re either gay or extremely gay-friendly. However, if that isn’t the case, the stupidest thing you could ever do is post a semi-coherent rant on Facebook comparing homosexuality to child abuse.

Perhaps we live in the stupidest of all possible worlds, because that’s exactly the road Lithuanian producer Ten Walls (Marijus Adomaitis) decided to go down when he published some guano-insane thoughts on Facebook, including this very out-there quote:

“I remember producing music for one Lithuanian musician, who tried to wash my brain that I don’t need to be so conservative and intolerant about them. When I asked him ‘what would you do if you realized that your 16-year-old son’s browny (anus) is ripped by his boyfriend?’ Well he was silent.”

The dance community wasn’t. In response to his tirade, the “Walking with Elephants” producer was dropped by his booking agency Coda Music; Phonica Records cancelled every pre-order for his new EP, Sparta; and he was removed from the lineup for at least six dance festivals: HARD Summer, Sónar, Creamfields, Pukkelpop, PITCH, and Urban Art Forms Festival. Even Lithuanian president Dalia Grybauskait chimed in with a statement: “I believe the incident benefits the state in a way that, in this country, we are becoming more and more open in our discussions about how insular we are, our intolerance of people who are different, as well as homophobia.”

Earlier this week, Ten Walls tried making amends with another statement: “I would like to apologize to everyone I’ve let down, especially to my friends in the gay community, and my fans. I now need to take a break.”

We suspect it’ll be a long one. He can use all the free time to produce a new house track, “Last Night A DJ Destroyed His Career.”
