The Golden Globe nominations are here and they’re super gay

Nominations for the 76th Annual Golden Globe Awards are in and they include a record number of LGBTQ roles, actors, allies, movies, and TV shows.

Melissa McCarthy was nominated for her role as lesbian author Lee Israel in Can You Ever Forgive Me? She’ll be competing against Lady Gaga in A Star Is Born.

Meanwhile, Rami Malek was nominated for playing Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, and Lucas Hedges was recognized for his work in Boy Erased.

On the TV side of things, both Darren Criss and Edgar Ramirez received noms for The Assassination of Gianni Versace. Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw were also both nominated for A Very English Scandal.

Then there was Billy Porter for Pose and Debra Messing for Will & Grace.

Other notable noms include Troye Sivan’s song “Revelation” from Boy Erased and a slew of recognitions, including Best Motion Picture – Drama, for If Beale Street Could Talk, based on queer author James Baldwin’s 1974 novel.
