Republican Presidential also-ran-in-training and human war crime Mike Huckabee has more wit and wisdom to share. You can go back to bed now.
On the heels of blithely claiming Obama is marching Israel “to the doors of the oven” — a soundbite he somewhat recanted yesterday, opining “maybe the metaphor is not a good one” — he’s now turned his attention to the Pentagon’s plan to start disassembling the U.S. military’s ban on transgender people, a process that begins Monday.
As you may have guessed, Huckabee feels the ban — which disqualifies anyone who has a “history of psychosexual conditions, including but not limited to transsexualism, exhibitionism, transvestism, voyeurism, and other paraphilias” — should not be lifted. Because that would turn the military into a “social club.” Like Chuck E. Cheese’s Pizzatime Theatre.
“Men are men,” he revealed, pulling no punches. “Women are women. There’s a difference. The military is not a social organization. The military is not a place where we try out experiments. The military is designed to kill people and break things.”
Stopping just short of emphasizing his point with toy soldiers and vintage Matchbox tanks, Huckabee added, “The military is not designed to be a social club or some type of organization where we help people feel better about themselves. If there’s something that makes it difficult for you to defend this country, maybe the military is not the right place for you.”
