Bible thumpers have been warning everyone for years that this would happen. Now, their prophecy is finally coming true.
Gayness is spreading across the world, but it’s hitting the U.K. especially hard. A recent survey conducted by YouGov found that 49 percent of Brits between the ages of 18-24 identify as something other than “100 percent heterosexual” when asked to plot themselves on Alfred Kinsey’s sexuality scale.
Researchers spoke to a total of 1,632 people ranging from 18 years to 60+ years in age. Of that number, younger people reported being the most sexually fluid. Less than half of 18-to-24-year-olds said they consider themselves completely straight, compared to 43 percent who said they are bisexual. Meanwhile, 89 percent of respondents over 60 said they are either completely straight or completely gay.
Researchers also found that almost a quarter of respondents between 18 and 39 years of age reported having had at least one homosexual experience, compared to just nine percent of those over the age of 60.
Interestingly, more men reported having had a gay experience than women. One fifth of males, compared to 14 percent of females, said they had partaken in a sexual experience with someone of their same sex.
So what does this all mean exactly?
“More than anything,” Will Dahlgreen, a data journalist at YouGov, said, “it indicates an increasingly open minded approach to sexuality.”
